Step by step
Seven steps, the first four only once
Setting up takes a little time because we have to know who is on the other end of the phone. After that, each bet is the last three steps.
Sending a message is not placing a bet
A request, a quote and even your YES are not bets on their own. The bet exists once our system replies with an acceptance and a bet reference. No reference, no bet, and no money leaves your balance.

Create Account
Register with your name, date of birth, address and a UK mobile number. That number is the only one that can send us bets.

Verify Account
Confirm your email and mobile, then pass identity and address checks. Your status in My Account moves from Required to Pending to Verified.

Fund Account
Deposit with a Visa debit card in your own name. Message bets are taken from the same balance as online bets.

Connect Messaging Channel
In My Account, choose WhatsApp or Telegram and request the link. We message your registered number; reply to finish connecting.

Send Bet Request
Write the event, market, selection and stake in a normal message from the linked number.

Receive Price and Confirmation
A trader replies with a quote. Reply YES while it's open. We then send an acceptance with a reference, or tell you why we couldn't take it.

Bet Appears in My Bets
Accepted message bets show under Open bets with the same reference, and move to Settled when the result is in.
Writing a request
What to put in the message
Plain words are fine. The clearer the request, the quicker the quote. If something is missing, a trader will ask before pricing anything.
- Event
The fixture, or the course and race time for racing.
- Market
Match result, both teams to score, to win the race, and so on.
- Selection
The team, player, horse or dog you are backing.
- Stake
In pounds. For each way, say the stake per part.
- Bet type
Single, win or each way, or the legs of a multiple.
Our replies
Which message means what
Every reply from us falls into one of these. Only one of them means you have a bet.

Channels
Where you can message us
The channel is tied to the mobile number on your account. Messages from any other number are ignored, even if they quote your account ID.
WhatsApp
Telegram
The Telegram account must use the same mobile number as your MessageBet account. Once linked, it works the same way as WhatsApp.

You can link one channel to one number. Changing phone? Unlink the old channel first, or ask support to do it for you.
Security
Keeping it safe
Anyone holding your unlocked phone could send us a request, so treat the linked number like a bank card. Keep a screen lock on, and don't leave message previews showing on the lock screen if other people use the phone.
If the phone is lost or stolen, unlink the channel in My Account or email support@messagebet.co and we will block message bets from that number straight away.
We will never ask for your password, a card number or a security code by message. Our only messages are replies to your requests, quotes and acceptances.
Can I send a bet before my account is verified?
No. The channel can only be linked once identity and address checks are complete and there is money in the account.
What if I don't get an acceptance?
Then there is no bet and nothing has been taken from your balance. Check My Bets to be sure, and send a fresh request if you still want it.
Are the prices the same as on the site?
Quotes come from the same traders. For markets on the board they'll usually match; for markets we don't list, the quote is the only price.
Do the same limits apply?
Yes. Deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion cover message bets exactly as they cover online bets. A time-out also pauses the channel.
